Buildings

🔗

Buildings are the campaign layer that turns designs into flights. Every base has three building types: Research, Factory, and Launch Pad.

Each building has a construction event. After construction, it can perform work and receive upgrades. Building events share the building's timeline track, so construction, upgrades, research, manufacturing, and launches must be scheduled without overlap on that track.

Research

🔗

The Research building turns rocket designs into usable plans.

It is responsible for:

  • Researching rocket entities.
  • Unlocking new capsules, engines, and options through upgrades.
  • Reducing research cost or time when relevant upgrades are active.

When you modify a rocket design, the research event can change because the design's complexity, materials, engines, and options affect research time and cost.

Factory

🔗

The Factory builds rocket parts after their design has been researched.

It is responsible for:

  • Manufacturing capsules and stages.
  • Applying material and manufacturing cost reductions.
  • Enforcing size or production limits from available upgrades.

If a rocket is edited, the factory work for its parts can be rescheduled because the required components, build times, and costs may have changed.

Launch Pad

🔗

The Launch Pad creates flights from completed rocket parts.

It is responsible for:

  • Scheduling flight entities.
  • Applying launch and fuel costs.
  • Enforcing launch limits such as rocket height or mass.
  • Supporting launch pad upgrades that enable larger or heavier vehicles.

Launching a rocket requires a valid design, manufactured parts, and a launch pad slot.

Upgrades

🔗

Upgrades are scheduled events. They cost money, take time, and block other events on the same building while they are active.

Upgrade examples include:

  • Research upgrades that unlock new parts or improve research efficiency.
  • Factory upgrades that reduce material or manufacturing costs.
  • Launch Pad upgrades that enable taller or heavier rockets or cheaper fuel.

Use the building editor to inspect available upgrades, schedule them, and understand what each one enables.

Editors

🔗

Selecting a building or building event opens the relevant editor. These editors show construction state, upgrade options, scheduled work, costs, and any requirements that are currently blocking the plan.
